DOCTRINE & CATECHISM
Learn the Traditional Catholic Faith
A clear, ordered introduction to what Catholics believe, how they worship, and how they are called to live.
Begin with the foundations
The Creed
The Creed is a concise profession of the principal truths revealed by God. The Apostles’ Creed is traditionally associated with baptismal instruction; the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed is professed at Mass in the Roman Rite.
The Ten Commandments
The commandments express the moral law and guide the Christian in love of God and neighbour. A full guide will explain each commandment, its positive duties, sins against it, and traditional catechetical teaching.
The seven Sacraments
Baptism, Confirmation, the Holy Eucharist, Penance, Extreme Unction, Holy Orders and Matrimony. Each sacrament will have its nature, effects, matter and form, scriptural foundations, and traditional catechetical explanation.
Prayer and the spiritual life
Vocal prayer, meditation, contemplation, the Mass, the Divine Office, examination of conscience and the practice of the virtues.
The virtues
The theological virtues are faith, hope and charity. The cardinal virtues are prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance. The Christian life also includes the gifts and fruits of the Holy Ghost.
Traditional catechisms and sources
Planned reference texts include the Catechism of the Council of Trent, the Baltimore Catechism, the Roman Catechism, and the Catechism of St Pius X, with editions and historical context identified.
Editorial standard: This library will distinguish defined dogma, authoritative magisterial teaching, theological explanation, historical discipline and private revelation. It is an educational resource, not a substitute for a priest or spiritual director.
